Nine buddies bought roughly 20 acres for Mt. Juliet’s youth football program in the mid-1980s.

The group later deeded the land to the city for future improvements in date. The city continued to make improvements to the land as well as purchase more.

The park now known as Charlie Daniels Park is a heavily visited recreation area. It includes a community center, tennis courts, pavilions, a basketball court, skate park, walking track, splash pad, and youth playgrounds.

New Pickleball Class Alert at Mt. Juliet Community Center

There is a new beginner pickleball class available from 6 PM to 7:30 PM on Fridays. This class is perfect for anyone just learning how to play pickleball or are interested in giving it a try. All are welcome.

Also, Sunday's from 1PM to 4:30PM, the Mt. Juliet Community Center will be open for Open Pickleball play.

Weekly Pickleball Schedule at Mt. Juliet Community Center:

• Tuesday's 10 AM to 12 PM, Competitive Play

• Wednesday's 9:30 AM to 1 PM, Intermediate Play

• Wednesday's 1PM to 3 PM, Beginner Pickleball Class
