Clear your calendars, the Fair is here

Good morning, Wilson County. Starting tomorrow, the weather will be mild and comfortable especially compared to today’s heat and this weekend’s humidity.

In today’s WilCo Beat:

  • 🌽 Wilson County Fair is here

  • 🚒 Firefighter in critical condition

  • 🏪 Costco is coming

Let’s get to it.

- Travis Dailey

The Fair is here!

The Wilson County and TN state fair is here. It’s the third year the two have partnered. And last year attendance broke an all-time record set in 2013 by almost 200,000 people.

The fair lasts from August 17 through 26. Plan ahead.

Gates open at 5 pm Monday - Friday, 10 AM on Saturdays, and noon on Sunday.

Rides close around midnight or 1 a.m. on weekdays and usually earlier depending on demand during the week.

And finally, how much does it cost? Adults are $12; ages 6-12 are $6; ages under 6 are free. Plus, opening day is half-price.

If you plan to attend multiple days, the seasonal ticket is the most cost-effective at $45 for all 10 days.

Check here for more ride costs and Mega tickets.

A couple of our favorites include the racing pigs, dock dogs, poultry and rabbit barn, and the exotic petting zoo.

There are several new rides making their appearance this year.

THE DIGEST

🚒 Large apartment fire

The weekend storms produced heavy lighting which ignited a fire at the Glass Creek Apartments complex.

Firefighters were on the scene quickly and worked non-stop to extinguish the flames. They prevented the fire from expanding through the rest of the buildings.

Unfortunately, a firefighter was injured while battling the fire. They are currently in a hospital in critical condition. Please keep this individual, their family, and the firefighters in your thoughts.
